Dental News
The San Diego-based company Plackers has introduced the first line of musical toothbrushes aimed at getting kids to brush their teeth more by making the experience both fun and educational.
Called Brush & Learn, these new types of toothbrushes utilize original melodies and upbeat, catchy lyrics, each toothbrush plays an entertaining, educational song that encourages healthy dental care habits by making brushing fun for children. Parents can choose from four Brush & Learn toothbrushes with songs that help teach children their ABCs, 123s, farm animal sounds, as well as proper teeth brushing techniques for children.
"The Brush & Learn toothbrushes are a great way for parents to encourage a daily brushing routine at an early age that's both entertaining and educational," said Tom Barman, Director of Marketing for Plackers. "Children will look forward to brushing their teeth with Brush & Learn's melodic, interactive songs and will establish a foundation of healthy oral care habits that will last a lifetime."
In addition to encouraging kids to brush your teeth more, having a toothbrush that makes sounds also allows parents to monitor their children's brushing habits without having to be in the bathroom with them when as they're doing so.
Tooth decay is the #1 chronic childhood disease in the U.S. according to the U.S. Surgeon General and causes children to lose over 51 million school hours each year due to dental related illness. The best way to prevent tooth decay in kids is to have them brush their teeth two to three times a day in addition to avoiding sugary snacks as much as possible.
