Dental Health's Online "Cool Tool"
'
Dental Health News
I recently came across an interesting online tool which one can use to improve their overall dental health as it helps them understand what they can do to prevent dental disease, what treatments are the most effective and what typical dental procedures will cost them in their State.
It's called the Dental Optimizer and it can be used to learn how prevention will directly benefit their - whether it means fewer oral health issues, less time in the dentist's chair, or lower out-of pocket costs.
Developed by Dentists Management Corporation (DMC), this free online oral health application is regularly updated and recently added a pharmacy module that allows patients to find out if the medications they are taking may impact their oral health such as learning about the side effects of their medications.
However, it should be noted that I found the recommendations generated by the website's questionnaire -which I accessed using my personal dental health information- to be fairly generalized and certainly not as detailed as you would get from visiting your dentist. Still, I found the feature that compares the average dental pricing in a given State to be quite useful, especially because it gives you three prices; an average high, and average low and a median price.
Also, it should be noted that DMC is a subsidiary of ODS which provides, among other things, dental insurance benefits so if you choose to use the website's "Dental Directory" option, it's very likely going to list only those dentists that they have a financial incentive to list, not necessarily the best, most experienced dentists.
I'm just saying.
